Explodes With Hushed Silence

 Even the hydrants
Stand so starkly with their shadows--
Seattle sunshine.

Beige fixed upon beige:
Half walnut on wood railing
Far from its birth place.

In the late sun's light
Even the trash cans stand out
Their shadows dark, stark.

Dark latticed shadows
Etched upon the gray sidewalk;
Light becomes substance.

A burst of violet
Explodes with hushed silence.
Motion--no motion.

At her world's center
She sits silent as beige death,
Motionless--ready.
